Filming for Tom Cruise’s latest movie has been halted after co-star John Goodman suffered an injury on set.

Goodman, 72, is recovering after hurting his hip while working on director Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s new film, which is in production with Warner Bros.

A spokesperson confirmed that Goodman has been out of action for two days, issuing a statement reading: ‘John Goodman experienced a hip injury.

‘He received immediate medical attention that led to a brief delay in shooting to allow him time to recover.

‘The production resumes shooting next week following John’s full recovery.’

His injury was first reported by The Sun yesterday. They wrote that an unnamed leading actor was in hospital after the incident occurred at Pinewood, causing ‘injuries to his pelvis and leg’.

As later reported by Deadline, Goodman allegedly slipped while blocking a scene at the UK-based studio.

Thankfully, his injuries are considered ‘minor’ and he is expected back on set on Monday.

Production on the film began late last year. It is currently untitled.

This marks Oscar winner González Iñárritu’s first English-language film since The Revenant, which was released in 2015 and starred Leonardo DiCaprio, winning González Iñárritu best director at the Academy Awards.

González Iñárritu wrote the script for the upcoming release in 2023 alongside Birdman co-writers Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, plus Sabina Berman.

Details of its plot are still being kept tightly under wraps.

However, it is believed that Mission: Impossible icon Cruise, 62, takes on the role of a megalomaniac (a person who has an obsessive desire for power) who attempts to save humanity.

Other cast members include Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Sophie Wilde.

The Emmy and Golden Globe winner has also starred in movies such as The Big Lebowski, The Flinstones, and Monsters Inc.
