Rapper Rod Wave has been arrested and charged with a string of offences after his home was robbed.

Born Rodarius Marcell Green, the American rapper, singer, and songwriter first rose to fame in 2019 with his single Heart on Ice, which went viral on TikTok before peaking at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.

This week, the 26-year-old was arrested and charged with 14 counts, including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and felony tampering with evidence.

Variety has reported the musician was detained in Fulton County, Georgia and released on $50,000 (£37,000) bond yesterday.

The arrest was connected to an incident that took place on April 21 when the rapper ‘returned to his home following a burglary’.

‘At his residence, an argument ensued, and a pistol was fired 14 times, striking several cars and a wall in the home.’

In an incident report obtained by USA Today, Green and his girlfriend are listed as victims of an April 21 burglary at their Georgia home, after which Milton County Police officers were dispatched to a home in response to a domestic dispute where ‘neighbours were yelling and screaming outside’.

The report stated that an officer found a woman crying, who said that when returning home from out of town that night, she found their home had been burgled.

When inspecting the property, officers found a broken window, an emptied safe in the basement, bullet casings on the stairs leading up to the driveway, a gold Mercedes-Benz G Wagon riddled with bullets and a black Rolls-Royce with one bullet hole. A black handgun was also found on the scene.

The woman told officers Green was not home but planned to return the next day. It is unclear how the incident relates to his charges.

In a statement provided to Variety, Green’s attorney Drew Findling said: ‘There is no truth to these charges [against his client]. Rod Green was a victim of a burglary and committed no crimes. How he was even charged as a result of this situation is incomprehensible. This will absolutely be resolved favourably to Mr. Green.’

Green had previously been arrested for possession of ammunition or a weapon in Florida in April 2024 after police suspected he’d been involved in a gang-related shooting that left four injured.

In 2022, he was also arrested and charged with battery by strangulation in the same state after being accused of choking an ex-girlfriend while their two children were inside the home.

The charge was later dismissed, with his lawyer calling the incident a ‘misunderstanding’.

Green is reported to be the 21st highest-grossing touring rapper of all time, earning $36 million from 31 shows.

His debut studio album Ghetto Gospel then went on to peak at number ten on the US Billboard 200. In the five years since he’s released a further five albums, the most recent being 2024’s Last Lap.

That release debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, marking his seventh consecutive top 10 album, and making him the only male artist to release a top ten album each year from 2019 to 2024.

Green has also sold 65 million digital copies in the United States, making him one of the highest certified artists in the United States and he’s also been nominated for a American Music Award and Billboard Music Award.
