Haley Joel Osment has been arrested for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance.
The Sixth Sense actor, 37, was arrested while in Mammoth Lakes in California, earlier this week.
He is no longer in custody, but it has been reported that police believe the substance was cocaine.
Sergeant Jason Heilman confirmed to People: ‘He was booked and is no longer in custody.
‘Public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance are the charges related to the arrest [on April 8].’
A police source then confirmed to People on Wednesday: ‘The controlled substance right now is presumed to be cocaine. We sent it for testing. We will have the results soon.’
The police say that the actor was arrested in a car park on April 8 at 2pm local time, after being called because of the horror star’s ‘unruly conduct.’

It has yet to be announced if Osment will face charges, and the incident is still under investigation.
The actor has faced troubles with the law previously and was arrested in 2006 after crashing his car into a mailbox’s brick pillar.
A month after this incident, he was charged with misdemeanour DUIs (Driving under the influence) for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The actor was given three years’ probation and 60 hours for an alcohol rehabilitation programme. He also paid a $1,500 fine and was required to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for six months.

The star lost his home in the Eaton fire in January 2025.
In an interview with the Mentor Buffet podcast, he spoke about the challenges he has faced in California after living in the area for 15 years.
‘I had this very intense pandemic relationship that ended up going nowhere. Then things started picking up after the worst of the pandemic,’ he said.
‘Then there was the [SAG/WGA] strike, which I totally supported, but that put everything on hold for a very long time. And then we’ve had some political upheaval, and this house that had been my refuge during the pandemic was completely destroyed in the Eaton Fire.’
He wrote on social media at the time: ‘My heart would be so full every time I drove home. It was such a special place. I loved living there.’
His sister, Young Sheldon actress Emily Osment, also revealed that their parents lost their home in the same fires.
‘It’s been an extremely difficult month. Thank you to everyone that has reached out to my family in the wake of the fires.
‘Devastated for my mother my father and my brother who lost their homes in the Altadena fire,’ she said on social media in January 2025.

The actor began working in the 1990s when he was just a child.
He appeared as Forrest Gump’s son Forrest in the 1994 movie Forrest Gump with Tom Hanks. The movie earned him a Young Artist Award, and he had a major breakthrough in 1999.
In 1999, he appeared in The Sixth Sense in which he played Bruce Willis’s patient. The movie earned him a Saturn Award, plus nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
He has also appeared in the 2000 film Pay It Forward and Steven Spielberg’s 2001 film A.I Artificial Intelligence.
As an adult he has notably appeared in the 2014 film Tusk, the Entourage film in 2015, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile in 2019, and Somebody I Used to Know in 2023.
Last year, Osment also appeared in the Channing Tatum film Blink Twice and he is set to appear in the Netflix series Wednesday season two.
