Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s daughter Daisy made a sweet appearance at the Blue Origin space flight on Monday.
Katy, 40, was one of the six women on board during the 10-minute space trip to the Kármán line, the internationally recognised boundary of space.
Their flight lasted 10 minutes and 21 seconds and took off about 120 miles southeast of El Paso at 8.30 am local time on Monday morning.
In the crowd was her Lord of the Rings star husband-to-be Orlando Bloom, 48, who she’s been with since 2016, and making a rare appearance was their daughter.
Appearing in brief moments on screen, Daisy, 4, could be seen wearing a silver astronaut costume as she watched the space craft.
The youngster was seen watching the crew land and exclaimed: ‘My mama!’
Both Orlando and Katy have typically kept their daughter firmly out of the spotlight, so getting a glimpse of the tot was rare for fans.
Katy brought a daisy flower with her on board the spacecraft and explained the significance to reporters.
‘Daisies are common flowers but they grow through any condition, they grow through cement, through cracks, through walls,’ she said.
‘They are resilient, they are powerful, they are strong, they are everywhere. To me, flowers are God’s smile.
‘They are a reminder of our beautiful earth and the beautiful magic that is everywhere all around us.’
Their daughter’s full name is Daisy Dove Bloom, and she was born in August 2020.
Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on his chat show, she revealed: ‘Daisy, to me, means purity, and Dove means peace,e and Bloom feels like it means joy. So it’s very, “Pure, peace and joy”.’
Katy and Orlando first met at a Golden Globes afterparty in January 2016
‘I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out,’ Katy explained. ‘We were at the Golden Globes and we weren’t together.
‘I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend’s hand — he wasn’t even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, “Hey that’s my burger!”’
Daisy is Orlando’s second child after previously welcoming a son, Flynn, 14, with Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr.
Kerr now has four children, including Hart, 7, Myles, 6, and Pierre, 1, with her current husband, Evan Spiegel.
Katy was married to actor Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012, but the pair never had children.
The space flight has been heavily criticised, with the likes of Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, Olivia Munn and Amy Schumer poking fun at the ‘gluttonous’ trip.
Emily told her TikTok followers: ‘You care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth, and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that’s single-handedly destroying the planet?’
Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there?
‘And then to try to make it like… I’m disgusted. Literally, I’m disgusted.’
Olivia Munn called the mission ‘gluttonous’ while guest co-hosting Today With Jenna & Friends on April 3.
‘What are they doing, like why?’ Olivia, 44, said. ‘I know this probably isn’t the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now.’
