Hollywood icon Harrison Ford surprised New Yorkers by taking a rare ride on the New York City Subway.
Ford, 82, best known for his iconic roles as Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones franchise, was spotted blending in with everyday commuters during a casual outing with his wife, actress Calista Flockhart, 60.
The couple, known for their relatively low-key lifestyle which they primarily prefer to keep private, spent the day strolling through Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
They were seen shopping at Citarella Gourmet Market, a high-end grocer known for its fresh seafood, meats, and artisanal goods.
Following their shopping trip, they made their way to a nearby subway station, where they momentarily parted ways to catch separate trains.
Before heading underground, Ford and Flockhart shared a tender moment, exchanging a kiss before she rushed off to board the Express Downtown 2 train.
He could be seen with an arm around his wife as they navigated the streets of the city on their outing.
A fan approached the actor on the sidewalk at one point and Ford agreed to sign an autograph for him.
Flockhart, best known for her role in the hit television series Ally McBeal, was en route to her Off-Broadway play, Curse of the Starving Class.
Meanwhile, Ford, heeding his wife’s instructions, took the local Downtown 1 train.
Passengers on the train were taken aback by the unexpected presence of the Hollywood legend, but Ford appeared to embrace the experience.
Dressed casually, at one point, he even struck up a conversation with a fellow passenger, admitting that he hadn’t taken the train in years.
This subway sighting was particularly notable as it marked Ford’s first public appearance since he was forced to cancel his attendance at this year’s Academy Awards due to a shingles diagnosis.
The actor had been expected to appear at the awards ceremony, but his health setback kept him from presenting.
Fans were devastated by the news of Ford’s poor health, and took to social media to share their well wishes.
X user @tomlikestocode wrote: ‘Shingles is no joke. If you’ve had it or know someone who has, you know how painful it can be. Hope Ford gets through it quickly.’

The 97th Academy Awards went ahead as planned, despite Harrison’s absence.
Flockhart and Harrison began dating after meeting at the 59th Golden Globe Awards in 2002.
He was 60 years old at the time and 22 years older than Flockhart.
The couple got married eight years later in 2010 and have been inseperable ever since.
‘I’m in love,’ Ford said of Flockhart in a 2003 interview.
‘Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did.’
